Behavioral help for teenagers in Corpus Christi

At Corpus Christi Medical Center Bayview, our goal is to provide a safe, structured environment where tweens and teens can receive compassionate behavioral care and supportive resources for healing.

We treat adolescents 10 to 17 years old who have depression, anxiety, family problems, suicidal thoughts, have been sexually abused and/or are at risk for addiction. The program helps teens deal with the issues of adolescence and teaches them how to live in safe and caring families.

We also coordinate with Corpus Christi Independent School District to provide on-site educational resources. These resources allow adolescents to maintain their education while receiving treatment at our facility.

If your teen needs help with an emotional problem, we're here to help. Please reach out and schedule an appointment.

Recognition

The Joint Commission has accredited Corpus Christi Medical Center for meeting the Commission's guidelines on behavioral health care programs, including care, treatment, and services; environment of care; leadership; and screening procedures for the early detection of imminent harm.

Our adolescent programs and services

Our adolescent program offers inpatient and outpatient behavioral health treatment as well as support services and aftercare. The program's structure provides teens a safe framework with therapists, psychiatrists, counselors and a mental healthcare team who provide the care they need to heal.

It uses a tier-leveling system with a rewards incentive program that focuses on following guidelines and program rules. The goal might be not getting angry or going to a session, but it keeps them focused and moving forward in their treatment. Our care team focuses on helping adolescents reach higher levels of appropriate behavior.

Therapy types

We offer various types of therapy, including individual, group, and family, to help teens cope with the issues they face. Our counselors use cognitive, dialectical and solution-focused behavioral therapy techniques. They can teach teens how to accept uncomfortable thoughts and feelings instead of struggling with them.

Family therapy is part of the plan for every patient. The family is brought in for sessions and remains a part of the program as part of a teen’s discharge plan.

Our nurses help our counselors provide medication education and educate adolescents on how their bodies are affected by stress and dependency.

We offer complimentary assessments and treatment suggestions for emotional health-related concerns.

Inquiries about treatments or services are strictly confidential and can be made by professionals, family members, friends, managed care companies or the patient.

Youth suicide prevention program

As part of our youth suicide prevention program, Bayview has partnered with the Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI), an educational organization dedicated to the awareness and prevention of youth suicide.

We use materials from JFI to identify and help at-risk youth. Contact us for more information or if you would like our team to present information about suicide to your school or organization.

Never be reluctant to get involved and always take any mention of desire or intent to harm one's self seriously. If you suspect an adolescent has suicidal thoughts, send them to receive professional help immediately.

If you or someone you know needs to talk with a counselor for help or for resources in your area, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at (800) 273-TALK (8255). This is a free, 24-hour hotline available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. Your call will be routed to the closest crisis center near you.
